Places to Network for Potential Jobs

Finding a source of employment is a difficult task with so much competition going on in the world. The current unemployment rate for the United States and UK is more than 6 percent of the population. Therefore, a prospective employee will need to join a network in addition to searching for jobs in the usual fashion. The following are three networks that can help an unemployed individual connect with a broad spectrum of potential employers:

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is one of the largest professional networking sites on the web. Many major employers search for potential job candidates through LinkedIn. They search for potential workers according to their resumes and skill sets. Employers that choose not to contact a potential candidate may still offer another company that person’s profile information. Likewise, former co-workers can connect to each other through the site. Someone who used to work with a LinkedIn member can help that person to find gainful employment with a new company. The site charges nothing for creating a profile, and registration takes approximately two minutes to complete.

JobFox

JobFox is an interesting site of which not many people are aware. The JobFox site matches a potential employee’s job skills with employers that have listings in which they require such skill sets. JobFox sends alerts to people who sign up for them for free.

Visual CV

Visual CV is a unique networking site that offers its members an entire webpage on which they can add resumes, videos, sample files and any other material that they feel will help their cause. Users can choose to make their pages public or private. A public listing will obviously be more visible to potential employers, but the member can choose to send emails directly to employers that he or she finds appealing.

A solid network is almost a necessity when it comes to snagging a job these days. Hundreds of networking sites are available on the Internet. A prospective employee can search for one that meets his or her needs. Furthermore, an applicant can increase his or her chances of landing a job by signing up on several sites at once.
